Pray for Upcoming Seminar

Greetings, friends! I promised I would start "blogging" with regularity. So, here is the first attempt. As many of you know, I've just returned to Malawi. The trip was uneventful. It was so nice to see family and friends, especially my wife, mkazi wanga, Leanne. I resumed preaching this week at the Njewa prayer house, a village church about 5 kilometers from campus. This Saturday, I am scheduled to participate in a seminar at the Kanin'ga CCAP (Pres.) church on "Christ-Centered Preaching." It's an event one of my friends and fellow ABC'ites Jay Stoms set up. My role will be lecturing on "Christ, The Center of Scripture." Do pray for this event and the subsequent events to follow. Kanin'ga, like many churches, preaches texts with a moralistic emphasis, rarely citing and exposing the direct links to the gospel from the texts. This is our small attempt to help educate toward a Christ-centered end. They are excited and so are we. Pray for a big attendance (Kanin'ga is the largest church in the central region of Malawi and the most influential) and a gracious response. Our aim is certainly not to demonstrate what we know, but to elevate the importance of presenting the gospel from all of Scripture. Praise God that this church even wants to pursue these types of endeavours. That's rarely the case in African churches. So, please pray for this opportunity and its success that we hope will root for years to come.

Thanks for the update. I'll pass the information along to the folks at prayer meeting tonight.

I think that some of us are going to the service this coming Sunday evening at FPC Jackson where Paul will be installed as the new president of ABC. And as you know, Bech and Marley are scheduled to depart on Saturday.

It was great having you and Molly Grace with us on your providential trip to B'haven. And it was such a blessing for me to sit under your preaching and to have some time with you. And how wonderful it was that you could be here with your mom. She seems to be doing very well and conveys the peace of the Lord. What a remarkable Christian she is.
